Post-Treatment Care
To help prevent re-infection:
- Apply anti-fungal cream between treatments twice per day for up to 3 months
depending severity of the infection - Apply anti-fungal powder to all shoes at least once per week for at least 1 month
between the treatments. - Nail polish may be applied 24 hours after treatment
- The average time interval between treatments is 2-4 weeks for 3-5 treatments.
- To prevent re-infection after each laser treatment, it’s recommended to clean your shower, bathroom, or barefoot-walked floors with bleach. Consider washing or even discarding shoes worn without socks. Also, wash your bed sheets in hot water and, if your partner has any fungus, consider wearing socks to bed.
- Results of laser treatment may take 3-6 months to be visible as nails require this time to grow. If fungus persists after new nail growth, additional laser sessions might be necessary.
If you have a pedicure:
- NEVER soak in the basin
- Bring your own tools and sterilize them in bleach after every pedicure
- NEVER walk barefoot in the pedicure salon or spa
- Make sure your feet are thoroughly dry before putting on your shoes and socks
