FemiLift™ uses a new mode in fractionated CO2 laser surgery to treat UVS. This is the same laser that has been used in various forms to treat wrinkles and resurface facial skin. UVS may include any or all of the following: urinary stress incontinence, vaginal dryness, vaginal laxity, a diminished sexual response, and painful intercourse. Affected women experience disruption of an active lifestyle and intimate relationships with a partner.
FemiLift laser technology for vaginal tightening is the latest innovation from Alma Lasers, giving female patients a safe and gentle treatment option for a number of feminine concerns. The procedure is performed in the comfort of our Lexington practice and each session takes under 30 minutes to complete.
It is safe and painless- most find it less uncomfortable than having a pap-smear taken. There is no down time and some patients notice an improvement of symptoms even after a single treatment.
Some of the benefits include, but are not limited to:
Enhanced sexual gratification and sensation
Improved bladder control
Elimination of the symptoms caused by stress urinary incontinence
Increased natural lubrication
Reduction of recurrent infections
FemiLift™ Improve Vaginal Laxity
Vaginal laxity can lead to decreased tightness and sensitivity in the vaginal area, causing a loss of sensation and enjoyment during sexual intercourse and creating a significant quality of life issue. The thermal effects of the laser encourage collagen production and helps remodel the tissue. Collagen is one of the building blocks of healthy skin and tissue and helps strengthen and tighten the vaginal wall. Women often report that the symptoms of vaginal dryness and urinary stress incontinence are improved even after the first session of FemiLift,
FemiLift vs. Surgical Vaginal Tightening procedures
Surgical vaginal tightening is an alternative to the FemiLift procedure. The biggest difference between Laser Vaginal Tightening and Surgical Vaginal Tightening is that with surgery, the tissue is tightened by cutting and re-stitching the vaginal wall to attain tightness. The down time with the surgical approach is 4 to 6 weeks. Additionally, the patient is asked to refrain from intercourse during that time. Patients can typically return to work after 4 to 6 weeks post treatment. The FemiLift CO2 laser tightens the tissue by stimulating collagen production and fibroblasts that are part of this connective tissue. The procedure requires no cutting which makes it bloodless and painless. The treatment is performed 3 to 4 times, depending on the individual, every 4 to 6 weeks.
How many sessions are needed?
The treatment targets women in their mid-30s to early 50s. Problems like “unsatisfying sex” and urinary incontinence usually start to show after a woman has given birth to her third baby through normal delivery, Childbirth affects not only the vagina, but also “puts pressure on the floor of the pelvic area. In order to enjoy optimal results for a longer period of time, we recommend three consecutive treatments. Treatment sessions are performed in office and the effects of the FemiLift last for up to five years. Generally, no additional touch-ups are necessary aside from a yearly maintenance session.
